Mountains Animal Sanctuary provides permanent care for equines who, for various reasons, cannot go to loan homes. Many of these animals are too old to re-home, or have come to the sanctuary as the result of abuse or neglect. Here, they live out their lives in a caring, supportive environment, spending most of the year in natural herds and only being stabled as dictated by medical conditions or age. They are, though, brought in regularly for grooming, veterinary and farrier sessions.
The feeding regime and daily checks take up much of the time of the dedicated team at Mountains Animal Sanctuary and during the winter months, our horses are kept dry and warm with rugs.
We are always grateful for donations of rugs and blankets – particularly as the horses seem to enjoy ripping them!
We are indebted to:
Members of the general public.
Suppliers of equestrian apparel.
Charitable trusts.
Feed suppliers.
… and on behalf of our donkeys, a big thank you to regular volunteer, Peter, who spends many hours caring for his long – eared friends.
